Checkout Process

Attendee Guide

The checkout process is the final step between selecting your tickets and receiving your confirmed booking. This guide explains every part of the checkout experience, including the cart system, fees, payment, and what happens after you pay.

Cart System & Reservation Timer

When you click "Get Tickets" on an event page, your selected tickets are added to a temporary cart:

  • Your tickets are reserved for 15 minutes while you complete checkout.
  • A countdown timer is displayed on the checkout page showing your remaining time.
  • If the timer expires before you complete payment, your reserved tickets are released back to the public and you will need to start over.
  • Other attendees cannot purchase your reserved tickets while the timer is active.

Important: Do not close or navigate away from the checkout page while your cart is active. If you leave and return, your reserved tickets may have expired.

Checkout Questions

Some organizers require additional information from attendees at checkout. These are custom fields that may include:

  • Dietary requirements or allergies
  • T-shirt size
  • Company name or job title
  • Emergency contact information
  • Any other event-specific questions

Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Fill in all required fields to proceed with payment.

Fee Breakdown

The checkout summary shows a clear breakdown of all charges:

  • Ticket price — the base price set by the organizer for each ticket
  • Service fee — covers platform operating costs. The organizer decides whether to absorb this fee or pass it to attendees.
  • Platform fee — payment processing costs (Stripe fees). This is typically included in the service fee line.
  • Discount — if a discount code has been applied, the reduction is shown as a negative line item
  • Total — the final amount charged to your payment method

Tip: Free events never have any fees. You will skip the payment step entirely and receive instant confirmation.

Payment Methods

EventMann uses Stripe for secure payment processing. Accepted payment methods include:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express (Amex)

Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure, PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment form. EventMann never sees, processes, or stores your card information.

What Happens After Payment

  1. Confirmation page — you are shown a success screen with your booking reference (BK-XXXXXXXX).
  2. Confirmation email — an email is sent immediately with your booking details and QR code tickets.
  3. QR codes — each ticket has a unique QR code for check-in at the venue. These are available in the email and in your dashboard under My Tickets.

Approval Mode Events

Some events use Approval Mode instead of immediate payment. In this case:

  1. You submit a booking request (no payment at this stage).
  2. The organizer reviews and approves or rejects your request.
  3. If approved, you receive an email with a payment link and a deadline to pay.
  4. Once you pay within the payment window, your booking is confirmed and tickets are issued.

Important: If you do not complete payment within the payment window after approval, your booking will automatically expire and the tickets will be released.
